Hella Jongerius has created the 'East River Chair' for Vitra. The chair explores traditional and modern components; combining leather, wood, metal and high tech fabrics. What I find so inspiring about Hella's work is the innovative combinations of material, colour and form; this project is no exception. Images from designboom. Marni's fifth issue of AntiCamera has been created for the Salone del Mobile 2014. Following on from their '100 Chairs' collection, the project features limited edition handmade chairs which sit alongside giraffes, flamingos, ducks and donkeys made from metal structures wrapped in PVC. The chairs in this latest collection explore the concept of asymmetrical design. The idea behind this is that, like Marni clothing which is intended to be playful and individual to the wearer, the chairs can be arranged depending on the users needs, for example chairs which have one armrest each can be pushed together to create a bench. I love the concept behind these charity based projects which empower the workers who are handcrafting these beautiful pieces and learning new skills.

Raw Color have collaborated with Spanish design company Santa & Cole to create new colour schemes for their woven ribbons. The ribbons are wrapped around a steel frame to form the lampshades in their Tripode series. Raw Color have developed three coloured ribbons, terracotta, forest green and mustard, each of which are created by combining 3 different coloured yarns so on close inspection the ribbons are multi tonal.  Click here to read more about this exciting collaborative project.

Following a collaborative project with Wawa design there will be an exhibition of the final outcomes at Clifton Nurseries, Maida Vale. To celebrate Wawa's anniversary they are relaunching Richard Ward's iconic rocking chair. The wooden framed chairs have been upholstered with fabric designed by established and emerging designers including Margo Selby, Eleanor Pritchard, Beatrice Larkin and myself. I'm really looking forward to seeing the finished piece.

Tania Grace Knuckey graduated from the RCA in 2012 with a masters in Mixed Media Textile Design. Her work explores form, function, texture, material and colour, amongst other things which come together to create ai Fanta-ZY wourRld. Her final MA collection was entitled 'chairs: no sitting: DEEz dEzynED sCulptural tchairz wourE noT mAAde foUr yU. EYE mAAde deM foUr myE MuZe sheZ baD aSS'. Chairs, ordinary and functional objects, are given new meaning. Instead of providing a place to sit, the metal sculptures act as frames for the punched leathers, woven silks, and printed, embroidered and embelsihed surfaces.

A main focus of the Bouroullec's Album exhibition is on the act of designing and making and importantly the documenting of this process. A combination of drawings and photographs of works in progress, prototypes, workshops experiments and finished products provide an insight into the brothers way of working; placing emphasis not just on the final outcomes but also the journey to it. I am currently working on a project which explores the technical and very specific process of digital printing and seeing how the maker and process of making can become more paramount. I am thoroughly recording my way of working through the use of film and photography; putting equal emphasis on the process and outcome.
